Carson takes second
at Sandy Beach Pro

Kailua-Kona resident Liana Carson placed second at the Dave & Busters Sandy Beach Pro, a USBA bodyboarding event held July 7-8 at Honolulu’s Sandy Beach.

Carson, a 23-year-old amateur, competed against a group of professional and amateur bodyboarders, finishing second to two-time USBA national champion Karla Costa-Taylor. She advanced to the final heat by placing second in each of her first two heats.

A Pahoa High School graduate, Carson entered the event very familiar with Honolulu waters, having spent several summers bodyboarding at Oahu’s Kailua Beach Park as a child.
